About PolyU Jockey Club “Operation Solnno”

Organised by the Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the 3-year social innovation programme is to innovate solutions, in collaboration with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, to respond to social challenges with a view to improving life in Hong Kong. The whole programme consists of four inter-linked key components, namely (i) the “One from Hundred Thousand” Social Innovation Symposium Series, (ii) SOINNO Action Projects, (iii) SOINNO Education, and (iv) SOINNO Knowledge Platform. The programme would engage the trans-disciplinary forces of academia, non-governmental organisations, professional bodies, members of the public, corporations and the Government to generate innovative ideas and practical actions.

Social and Technology Innovation to Shape Community Integration for All Ages

J.C.DISI has been advocating to re-shape our community by a paradigm shift from “age segregation” towards “age integration”. Interestingly, the twin cities Hong Kong and Shenzhen may provide very inspiring scenarios in generating synergies for age integration.

Shenzhen, being the youngest Mainland city in terms of population profile, is endeavoring to create a child-friendly city; while Hong Kong, being an acutely ageing city, is striving to create age-friendly communities. The Social Innovation Regional Forum (SIRF) 2023 will draw together the Greater Bay Area cities, particularly Hong Kong and Shenzhen, at the intersection of social and technological innovation, to jointly envision smart age-inclusive communities for people of all ages.

SIRF 2023 will consist of four Thematic Sessions to be held in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and one Main Forum as the highlight.

A reflecting dialogue between corporation representatives and young social innovators discussing sustainable development and Tech for Good, with 13 innovative project teams across the GBA area will join us at the exhibition area, to showcase their ideas and products enhancing age-inclusivity in the community. The scope of solutions includes: Smart Mobility, Age-Friendly Public Space, and Age-Friendly Community Service.
